Caution, Healing, Leadership The power of the Bear totem is the power of introspection. The answers to all our questions lie within us. Each of us has the capacity to quiet the mind, enter the silence and know. Just as the bear hibernates during the winter, people with a Bear totem will be quieter during the winter months. But they must awaken in the spring and seek whatever opportunities are around them. When you have a Bear totem, you are being guided to a leadership role. You must be fearless in defending your beliefs. The Bear also encourages you to exercise your abilities as a natural healer. Bears are associated with trees which are natural antennas, linking the heavens and the Earth. Daily Wisdom by Raventalker 10/03/2007 Today I was again inspired by a dream ….. so today’s wisdom is all about Monkey Totems Help me to see truth in all situations with my spiritual eyes. Teach me to hear Otherworld messages with my spiritual ears. Bring to me food for the soul from the gods that my spiritual body may be nourished. Dark and Light The Monkey represents the dark side of the human psyche, but also holds the key to right living. See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil. The ability to see both the dark and the light may unexpectedly enrich and strengthen. The Monkey totem is creative and imaginative. It can lead you into a deeper study of the origins of the human species and the examination of ancient wisdom. Its agile mentality provides you with inspiration and insight when you most need it. Daily Wisdom by Raventalker 10/04/2007 Keep it simple.. Ritual or ceremony never needs to be elaborate and complicated.. it is of course your choice.. if you wish to make your ritual or ceremony elaborate then feel free to do so.. but it isn’t necessary. When planning your ceremony or ritual remember to keep in mind the goal or purpose … don’t let your intentions get lost in the planning. Success comes from making sure your intentions are put into every single part of your ritual and or ceremony… from the beginning in planning .. to setting it up and preparing your tools … all the way to the actual ritual or ceremony taking place. Another note … when working spells… it really is best to work your own.. not something you have just found online somewhere. Each spell is written by someone with a particular purpose in mind by that person who wrote it .. do you want to work someone else’s magick or spell? If you do find a ritual, ceremony or spell online and it calls to you .. then rework it to make it your own.. by doing this you are putting your own intentions into the spell, ritual or ceremony. You really don’t have to be a poet to write your own.. simple words from your heart will do .. just be sure that your intentions are clear and you are sure of what you are asking for. Preparing for the New Moon: It's a good idea to spend some time reflecting in the days leading up to the new Moon. Knowing exactly what you want to draw into your life is not always easy. Part of preparing for the new Moon is making sure you are clear about your intentions. Sometimes it's a quality you'd like to cultivate like forgiveness, courage -- other times it's a more specific request like a promotion at work or new place to live. Turtle Totem Mother Earth Turtle is the oldest symbol for the Earth. Daily Wisdom by Raventalker 10/11/2007 Meditation… Meditation is a great tool .. it can be used to simply relax and is very helpful when having troubles sleeping… meditation before bed can help get you to sleep faster and deeper. Meditation can also be used as a calming tool.. to help relieve stress and anxiety. Meditation is also used when searching for answers from within.. I’m sure most of you know how meditation has been used in many many forms.. from vision quests to past life regression to getting past trauma or bad childhood experiences. Some may say they can’t meditate and don’t know how.. Do some research .. there are many different types of meditation and many are very simple and easy to learn.. look into several types and find one that best fits you and your needs and then master that meditation.. do it often and you will see quickly the benefits. The owl is the bird of magic and darkness, of prophecy and wisdom. An owl totem gives you the power to extract secrets. Meditate on the owl and things will be revealed. Not only is this a very magical time of year .. we are also blessed with a very nice full moon .. If nothing else .. at least, tonight .. stand below the full moon and allow her energy to fill you Light a black candle and allow it to burn through the night … Make a list of all the things you no longer want in your life.. remember to be specific and then burn that list .. watch it burn into ashes and then blow away with the wind .. see each of the things on that list burn and be gone from your life Make a new list of things you would like in your life for the coming year .. again remember to be specific .. DON’T burn this one! Keep this list somewhere safe .. maybe even place it in a bag of things that represent your wants and needs.. that’s optional .. Send your wishes tonight with the moons energy and light and allow the Creator to help you manifest these things in the coming year. That’s right I said HELP you manifest them.. not manifest them for you ..lol.. if you want something then you need to take part in making it a reality … making it happen.. so get off your bum and get to work in making those dreams come true. The candles were set in the corners with care, in hopes that the Watchtowers soon would be there. We all had our robes on (as is habitual) and had just settled down and were starting our ritual when out on the porch there arose such a chorus that we went to the door, and waiting there for us were children in costumes of various kinds with visions of choc-o-late bright in their minds. In all of our workings, we'd almost forgot, but we had purchased candy (we'd purchased a LOT), And so, as they flocked from all over the street, they all got some chocolate or something else sweet. We didn't think twice of delaying our rite, Kids just don't have this much fun every night. For hours they came, with the time-honored schtick of giving a choice: a treat... or a trick! As is proper, the parents were there for the games, Watching the children and calling their names. "On Vader, On Leia, On Dexter and DeeDee, On Xena, on Buffy, Casper and Tweety! To the block of apartments on the neighboring road; You'll get so much candy, you'll have to be TOWED!" The volume of children eventually dropped, and as it grew darker, it finally stopped. But as we prepared to return to our rite, One child more stepped out of the night She couldn't have been more than twelve or thirteen. Her hair was deep red, and her robe, forest green with a simple gold cord tying off at the waist. She'd a staff in her hand and a smile on her face. No make-up, nor mask, or accompanying kitsch, so we asked who she was; she replied "I'm a witch. And no, I don't fly through the sky on my broom; I only use that thing for cleaning my room. My magical powers aren't really that neat, but I won't threaten tricks; I'll just ask for a treat. We found it refreshing, so we gave incense cones, A candle, a crystal, a few other stones, And the rest of the candy (which might fill a van). I see his name in witchy books; But when I ask my witchy friends; They just give me the strangest looks. He seems to be so important; And everyone knows him but me; Each year they throw him a party; It sounds like THE cool place to be! When I ask my friends what he's like; They all practically turn and run; I need to get to know Sam Hain; So I can join in all the fun! I asked friends to introduce me; I'll have to introduce myself; `Cuz when I asked they looked at me; As if I'm a demented elf! So I searched the yellow pages; I called up information too; I just can't find this guy Sam Hain; I surfed the web `til I turned blue! This morning I was set on blogging about how Halloween/Samhain is nothing to do with the devil and all that sort … I was going to post all the things wiccans /pagans believe .. showing how it all had nothing at all to do with evil beings or the devil… and then I thought …. Why bother … there will always be those out there who CHOOSE to believe in the worst .. they will argue the point till they are dead… NOTHING will ever change their closed minds So why bring this dark cloud on a very magical day? Believe as you wish as long as you harm none.. Today for me is about enjoying life and having fun.. I’ll be spending time with my family as I traditionally do .. we will knock on doors and ask for treats .. we will walk all night till our feet won’t go any further .. we will sit together in the living room watching horror movies and sorting through loads of candy .. we will laugh and have loads of fun … as we always do And as I usually do .. I will privately carry on some more personal and sacred traditions of my own … I will kiss the past year goodbye and bid it a fine farewell.. I will welcome the New Year with great excitement and joy … and I will cast my hopes, wishes and dreams to the heavens. I’ll confirm my stand with the Creator and continue my work at being the best possible person I can and ask the Creator for a blessing in doing so. Each person can make what they want of any day of the year .. if you choose to make this day or any other day about evil then that’s what it becomes to YOU .. and so goes the opposite.. if you choose to make this day about something more positive and rewarding and even spiritual.. then that is what it becomes to YOU …. Think about your words. .think about your own thoughts and the energy you put into things .. no matter what it is.. For it is only those who think and say that a day is evil that make it evil.. to all others it is something all together different. Be aware of yourself and your own standing ..
